The pizzuto mountain is the second highest summit of the Sabini subappenninic Mountain ridge, in northern Lazio; this mountain ridge is free from the arboreal vegetation and allows you to appreciate from above with a breathtaking view, the whole Tiberin Sabina and the Middle Tiber Valley.
On this high trial you can "dance" on the Sabine Mountain ridge touching 4 consecutive peaks admiring a mountain landscape where man and nature together, have given a radically different mark than in that of the hilly, intensively cultivated, areas below. A territory dominated by the wild: forests, pastures, springs, rugged limestone cliffs, etc. The Sabine mountains were a place of transit and transhumance for flocks in all history ages, starting from the Bronze Age; they also were a natural resources tank for the Romans, wood, stone construction materials, water, etc.; Mountain areas have been places for refuge and crossings defense; a place for hermitage and nature forces worship, like in the Rocky Sanctuary of S. Michaels, formerly a shrine dedicated to the Sabine Goddes Vacuna, mother God of the Sabinian (and the Roman) people.
